Paul E. Vrana is a partner in Jackson Walker's Business Transactions section and a member of the firm's Energy Practice Group. He has extensive experience in transactional issues related to trading and marketing electric power, natural gas, and other energy commodities, electric power and gas arbitrage, energy-based derivatives, structured energy transactions, sales and acquisitions of energy assets including gathering systems and processing plants, gas supply, marketing and transportation matters, gas processing and balancing agreements, and bankruptcy matters. He has particular expertise with the deregulated electric power and gas markets and with other energy commodity markets including emissions and refined oil products.

Mr. Vrana's experience also includes documenting transactions commonly used in the trading, marketing and origination areas including short- and long-term physical purchases and sales, physical swaps, prepaid forward physical transactions, energy commodity price risk management transactions using exchange products and over-the-counter derivatives including swaps, options, swaptions, caps, floors and collars, and with credit arrangements used in the energy industry. He has assisted several start-up trading and marketing organizations in establishing the contractual relationships and procedures necessary to begin and support trading, marketing and commodity risk management activity and has extensive experience in advising these organizations on legal and credit matters associated with such activities.

Mr. Vrana is a graduate of Oklahoma State University, (B.S., 1985) and the University of Oklahoma (J.D., 1992).
