Mr. Thackray is a partner in the Upstream and Midstream Energy Services and Oil & Gas Transaction Services practice areas at McMillan LLP.   His practice includes extensive experience in oil and gas property acquisitions and dispositions, property exchanges, joint venture transactions, energy industry facility projects, complex operational issues and an interpretation of oil and gas agreements including farmout agreements, pooling agreements, operating agreements, royalty agreements, freehold leases and facility agreements.   He is principally responsible for oil and gas education and precedents within McMillan and writes and teaches extensively on recent judicial and legislative developments insofar as the same pertain to the practice of oil and gas law.   Mr. Thackray is an often-published author and continues to lecture extensively to both clients and industry associations, including lecturing at the Faculty of Management at the University of Calgary.

Mr. Thackray is a graduate of the University of Victoria (1982) and the University of Saskatchewan Faculty of Law (1986).
