David R. Rudd is a partner in the Business & Finance Department, partner-in-charge of the International Group, and a member of the Biotechnology/Life Sciences Group, Energy and Project Finance Group, Mergers and Acquisitions Group, Securities Group, and Technology and Emerging Companies Group. Mr. Rudd practices exclusively in the area of complex domestic and international business transactions in a wide variety of legal fields and industrial sectors. He regularly advises clients on general business matters, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, alternative market entry strategies and structures, private and public equity and debt financings, securities, privatization of parastatal entities, biotechnology, information technology, telecommunications and distribution, agency, and licensing matters.

Mr. Rudd has substantial experience in representing U.S. clients in virtually every major international market around the globe. He also has extensive experience with representing significant non-U.S. clients in both domestic and international business transactions. Having lived abroad for over two years, Mr. Rudd speaks Spanish fluently and is familiar with international cultural issues and business practices.

Mr. Rudd’s professional activities include: member, U.S. Senator Orrin G. Hatch’s Trade Advisory Group, advising on NAFTA and GATT; co-chair, International Special Interest Group, Utah Information Technology Association; member, Utah Life Sciences Association; chairman ex officio, board of trustees of the Mexico Utah Business Council; member, State of Utah Securities Advisory Committee; officer, Mountain West Venture Group; past chairman, Utah State Bar Business Law Section; member, American Bar Association, Inter-American Bar Association, Utah State Bar Association, and District of Columbia Bar Association.

Mr. Rudd is a frequent lecturer at the David Eccles Graduate School of Business at the University of Utah and at many leading conferences on topics related to international and domestic business and legal matters.

He is listed in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business as “Leaders in Their Field” in the area of corporate/M&A law, 2003-2004, 2005, and 2006 editions.

Mr. Rudd is a graduate of Brigham Young University (B.A. 1979) and Pepperdine University School of Law (J.D. 1982).
