Lynn R. Axelroth is a partner in the Real Estate Department. She is partner-in-charge of the Construction Group and is a member of the Health Care, Energy and Project Finance, Housing, Transactional Finance, and Resort and Hotel Groups. Her practice includes representing corporate, institutional, individual and public owners, public/private joint venturers, lenders, prime and trade contractors and design professionals in all aspects of real estate development, construction and design contracts, financing, and alternative dispute resolution. Among other experience, Ms. Axelroth has represented: a world-class orchestra in connection with the design and construction of its new concert hall; a major league baseball team in the development of a new ballpark and a spring training and minor league facility; the nonprofit developer of the largest regional visitor’s center in the United States; a transportation authority in the acquisition and turnkey development of its headquarters facility; health care institutions in the development of medical office building condominiums, hospitals, and surgi-centers; universities in the development of research, classroom, dining, and dormitory facilities; developers of high-rise office towers, hotels, and apartments; private entities in public/private developments of mixed-use commercial, retail, and entertainment projects; lenders in the workout of multi-lender loan transactions; and the owner of a daily newspaper starting its first publication in North America.

 

Ms. Axelroth is an elected member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and an elected fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers. She was the first chair and founding member of the Division of Owners and Lenders of the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry, and is a member of The Forum’s Governing Committee. Ms. Axelroth is a construction industry arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, chair of the Board of the Independence Visitor Center Corporation, a member of the Executive Committee of The Board of Overseers of the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts of the University of Pennsylvania, and a member of the Boards of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and the World Affairs Council. She is a former member of the Board of the Philadelphia Chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women, and is a member of the Forum of Executive Women and the International Association of Attorneys and Executives in Corporate Real Estate. Ms. Axelroth also is an allied member of the American Institute of Architects. Ms. Axelroth is a 1999 recipient of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Women of Distinction Award and received the Chapel of the Four Chaplains Legion of Honor Award for Outstanding Community Service. She is listed in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business as “Leaders in Their Field” in the area of real estate in the 2003/04 through 2007 editions. Ms. Axelroth is also listed in 2005-2006 edition of The Best Lawyers in America for Construction and Real Estate law. She has been honored by Law & Politics Magazine and Philadelphia Magazine as a “Pennsylvania Super Lawyer" in the area of Real Estate, as well as a Top 50 Female lawyer.

Ms. Axelroth is a graduate of Temple University (B.A., summa cum laude, 1977) where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and was a President’s Scholar, and the University of Pennsylvania (J.D., cum laude, 1983) where she was an editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review .
